In this way, the accumulated figure for the first eight months of the year marked a record of 286,489 units, 4.1% more than in the same period of 2021, when 275,303 vehicles were patented.

With this sales performance, the industry projects that the year will end with 380,000 patented units, around 20,000 less than those forecast at the beginning of 2022.

After the figures were announced, the president of Acara, Ricardo Salomé, said that “the first thing to note is that the more than 37,882 patents in August take on enormous value since they occur at the peak of restrictions on parts and imported vehicles.

“The effort of the entire value chain continues to be extraordinary and with a long-term view because despite the difficulties, with the work of a sustainability horizon contained in the 2030 Project”, Salomé highlighted.

The report highlights that of the total sales so far this year, 57% are from national industry, 34% come from Brazil, and the rest from third countries.

In that sense, the head of Acara assured that “it is something that has always been an old dream of the sector and that seemed impossible to achieve, but it is a trend that is here to stay.”

“This represents a real double opportunity, but also for customers who, if they adapt to the existing offer, dominated by national models, can make their savings work very conveniently. We are one of the few sectors that offer a product that channels savings quickly, preserves their value and generates the feeling of enjoyment, usefulness, gains and benefits at the same time”, he stressed.

Regarding the performance of the brands in the eighth month of the year, Toyota led the automobile and light commercial segment with 8,033 units sold and a 22.7% share of the total market.

It was followed by Volkswagen among the top ten brands with 4,958 patents; Fiat with 4,674; Renault with 4,345; Peugeot with 3,781; Ford with 2,398; Chevrolet with 2,371; Citroen with 1,458, Nissan with 1,287 and Jeep with 774.
