The German electrical industry has largely left the corona crisis behind.
In July, with an increase of 21.8 percent, significantly more orders were received than in the same month of the core crisis year 2020, as the industry association ZVEI reported on Wednesday in Frankfurt. In the first seven months, the orders were 26.4 percent above the same period of the previous year and also just under 15 percent above the pre-crisis value from 2019.
The companies also achieved growth in production adjusted for price effects in the seven months, but only by 2 percent compared to 2019. In terms of sales, they were 3 percent above the pre-crisis level at 113.1 billion euros.
According to ZVEI chief economist Andreas Gontermann, material shortages and delivery bottlenecks are putting pressure on the mood. “More than four fifths of the industry companies are now reporting difficulties here.” The business climate has deteriorated compared to the previous months, but remains in the expansionary range.
