The Argentine program translated into confidence for the World Bank and, as a consequence, the institution approved a loan for US$900 million for the next six months, in addition to the US$1.1 billion already agreed for the current year .

While the Argentine commitment focused on disbursing some US$500 million for projects financed by the World Bank during the next four months in infrastructure and the health system.

As specified, the National Executive will spend this amount on sanitation works in Matanza-Riachuelo, support for the universal health system, financing for the training of workers and support for poor children who receive the Universal Child Allowance.

Beyond the agreed loan, Both Massa and van Trotsenburg reaffirmed their commitment to continue with strategies to promote inclusive and sustainable development for Argentina.

IDB loan

While this Tuesday, Minister Massa met with the president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Mauricio Claver Caroneand confirmed financial support for almost US$3,000 million until the end of the year.

“The agreement reached with the IDB is the result of joint work to achieve a package of Special Financing for Development that will allow Argentina to launch key programs in infrastructure, health, water and tourism,” said Massa.

The Minister of Tourism, Matías Lammens, was also present at the meeting, since as part of what was signed there was a line of “financing for the Natural Route”.

“With this contribution of US$33 million and the Ministry’s own funds, we are going to promote 115 works to increase the supply of nature tourism throughout the country. This initiative is complemented by the 144 works carried out with 50 destinations after an investment of US$ s34 million,” Lammens pointed out.
