An earthquake measuring 2.5 on the open Richter scale was registered this Thursday about 30 km northwest of Zamora, in Bragança, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) said.
This is the second earthquake this Thursday in the same epicenter. An earthquake measuring 3.4 was recorded at 02:43.
On Wednesday, IPMA recorded an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale at 21:20 with an epicenter 120 kilometers from Faro.
According to the information available at the moment, the earthquake “caused no personal or property damage and was felt with the maximum intensity of III/IV degree.” [escala de Mercalli modificada] in the municipalities of Faro and Lagoa,” the IPMA added.
At the same time, the Spanish Geographic Institute also recorded an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale in the Gulf of Cadiz.
