OMV restarts the refinery in October

OMV will ramp up production again in the first half of October at its Schwechat refinery, which is currently operating at just over 20 percent capacity utilization due to an accident. The repair work is very well on schedule, said OMV boss Alfred Stern yesterday in the business journalists’ club.

“At the same time, however, we will continue to maintain this alternative supply system that we have set up over the past few months to ensure the supply of fuel, because we believe that this will be necessary to balance the markets and also to refill stocks.” said Stern.

As far as the gas supply in the coming winter is concerned, Stern reassured: Gas had already started to be stored in March, “that has led to the fact that we have filled the OMV storage facilities to over 93 percent today – that means our storage facilities are in Essentially full.” Overall, the gas storage facilities in Austria are more than 70 percent full. “With 70 percent – in Austria we have an annual requirement for gas, including storage capacity – that means we should actually get through the winter with 70 percent.”
