As a successor solution to the 9-euro ticket, only the 365-euro climate ticket can be considered by Deutsche Umwelthilfe. Only this would provide real relief for the citizens.
The German Environmental Aid (DUH) is demanding that the federal government assume all of the costs for a follow-up solution to the 9-euro ticket. For the solution preferred by the DUH – a nationwide valid 365-euro climate ticket – the federal government would have to raise 4 billion euros per year, the DUH has calculated. The federal states should not be used for co-financing, the association demanded on Sunday before the special conference of transport ministers from the federal and state governments. Further federal funds are needed for the expansion of local public transport. “With the equivalent of 29 euros per month, there is real relief for people who want to travel by bus, train and tram in a climate-friendly manner,” said DUH Managing Director Jürgen Resch.
On Monday, the state transport ministers, chaired by Bremen, will discuss with Federal Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) a possible successor model to the 9-euro ticket in local transport. Various models are under discussion, including monthly tickets for 29, 49 or 69 euros. However, there is a dispute between the federal and state governments about funding.
The DUH criticizes that tickets with prices of up to 69 euros per month bring almost no relief to citizens. “Calculated over the year, that would be 828 euros – more expensive than many current regional subscription tickets.”
