Under the title “The time for mining is today”, Area Discussion will bring together the main leaders of the sector, in five different blocks and with the moderating journalists Florencia Arbeleche and Sebastián D. Penelli.
The first will be a dialogue with specialized consultants Gustavo Peregodirector of Abeceb, specialist in energy and mining issues, and Ernest Cussianovich, associate director of Energy, Natural Resources and Environment at Poliarquía. With the two experts, they will seek to unravel the future of Argentine mining and what the main challenges are, but also address the state of the current regulatory framework, the weight of taxes and national and provincial collection. In addition, the latest opinion studies on the perception of mining in Argentines and Andean communities will be presented.

The second block will be to discuss mining development and Argentina’s potential. What place does Argentine mining occupy in the world? What are the current reserves of gold, copper, silver, lithium, among others, the projects underway and those to come. I know how much the sector can contribute to the development of the country and what is the role of mining entrepreneurs today. In this segment the talk will be with Luciano Berenstein, executive director of the Argentine Chamber of Mining Entrepreneurs (CAEM), and Mario HernandezManager of Community Relations of the MARA Project.

In the third block, they will talk about mining work and its link with communities, the mining production chain and the role of suppliers. The life stories of families who joined the mining world as providers of goods and services will be heard. But the collective labor agreement will also be analyzed, the current status of the parity and mining salaries, one of the highest in the country. For this panel were invited Manuel Gomez Bellohead of the Provincial Chamber of Suppliers of Catamarca and Gustavo Molinageneral secretary of the Argentine Mining Workers’ Association of Catamarca (AOMA).
The fourth block will be a face-to-face interview with Nicholas Bareta, CEO of Proyecto MARA (Agua Rica-La Alumbrera), a polymetallic deposit of copper, molybdenum, gold and silver located in Andalgalá. The MARA project is still in the feasibility stage, which is expected to end in 2023, and plans to make an initial investment in Catamarca of close to US$2.8 billion, when the required construction permits are obtained. When this stage begins, it is expected to generate some 5,000 jobs between employees and contractors, at the peak of investment.

In the last block they will participate Gabriela Uriburuvice president of WIM (Woman in Mining Argentina) and Fernanda Avila, Secretary of Mining of the Nation. In addition to reviewing the current situation in the sector, the strong progress of women in mining, gender equality and future prospects will also be addressed.
