Bakers Protest
“When we thought we had seen it all… to our astonishment we found out that the Secretary of Commerce, in charge of Mr. Matías Tombolini, is meeting due to lack of World Cup figures…”, begins the text published by the bakers.
Immediately afterwards, they affirm that “someone has altered values and priorities” and clarifies that bakers strive to “ensure that bread is present on the table of Argentines.”
“That is why we ask the Secretary of Commerce to guarantee the raw materials for baked goods, so that BREAD DOES NOT BECOME A DIFFICULT FIGURE,” concludes the FIPPBA document, which bears the signatures of its president, Raúl Santoandré, and his secretary, Cristian Malcenido.
Meeting
The complaint of the bakers from Buenos Aires points to the meeting that representatives of the Government held this Tuesday with the Union of Kiosqueros of the Argentine Republic (UKRA) and the Panini company, to resolve the shortage of figurines for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
That meeting was chaired by Tombolini himself, “who made the legal and technical teams of the Secretariat available to collaborate in the search for possible solutions between the parties regarding the commercialization of World Cup figurines”.
Currently, getting packages of these figurines in a neighborhood kiosk is an odyssey. The same does not happen with supermarket chains, service stations and delivery applications.
It is that the newsstands are getting 200 pesos but the company prefers to sell them by other means for more than double that price.
