Energy: Wind power industry hopes for a new federal government

Wind turbine manufacturers and operators have had difficult years. Now they are counting on a new federal government – and an immediate program.

The wind power industry expects important impulses from the Husum Wind fair, which opened on Tuesday in Schleswig-Holstein. “We have passed the low point,” said the President of the Federal Wind Energy Association, Hermann Albers, on Tuesday in Husum.

By the end of the year, an increase in wind power of an expected 2.4 gigawatts will be achieved in Germany. The industry is demanding an immediate program from the new federal government.

The coming legislative period offers the last opportunity to take the necessary steps to achieve the climate goals by 2030, said Albers. “Permits should no longer take six years, but six months.” According to the organizers, up to 10,000 visitors are expected at the fair by Friday. Almost 390 exhibitors show their products for everything related to wind energy and the topic of green hydrogen.
