The date of commencement of operations is foreseen for the June 20, 2023coinciding with the peak of winter demand, for which the companies in charge of the construction have foreseen an average laying of six kilometers of pipes per day.

Is about 56,700 welded pipesof 12 meters long and ones 5,000 kilos of weightof which the 89% they will be of 36 inches in diametertechnical measure required to withstand the pressure of transporting the 40 million cubic meters (MMm3) day for which it was projected in its two stages.

That number of tubes contemplates the 573 kilometers of the trunk workplus the 80 kilometers of the Mercedes-Cardales gas pipeline and the 29 kilometers from the loop (circuit) expansion of the Neuba IIwhich are a necessary part of the project to give viability to the incremental production.

Part of that planned number of tubes may be covered by the 80 kilometers of pipes that the company Argentine Energy identified that they had been waiting for years, in the free zone of Cove and the tax deposit Belland they will start to be released next week.

All these units -36 and 30 inches- will be used for the works of the Mercedes-Cardales and the expansion of Neuba IIwhich will allow speed up those tasks.

The flat plates for the production of these tubes began to arrive in the country in the last week and are in process of nationalizationon the Customsfrom the company Iron and Steel Plants of Minas Gerais (Usiminas), one of the largest steel producers in Latin America.

With this basic input, the Tenaris-Siat plant, located in the Buenos Aires town of Valentin Alsinagame of Lanuswill proceed to sheet metal bending and the pipe weldingfor which he is completing the training of 300 operators.

There, after an initial stage of stock accumulationin the last weeks of October, the tubes will begin to be dispatched during the 24 hours in trucks that will leave the plant every seven minutes, until completing the deliveries in february 2023.

The magnitude of the work undertaken by the Valentín Alsina terminal, to the south of the Buenos Aires suburbs, will allow it to reach a level of activity that the plant did not register 20 years ago. This involved the investment of more than $6 million at the plant to optimize production lines, improve material handling, increase the reliability of its digital tracking, incorporate a plasma welding machine and improve the hydraulic, x-ray and ultrasound testing equipment required to ensure the end product quality.

The subsequent logistics will require generating a runner to distribute the pipes in each of the three work fronts that the companies will be in charge of Techint-Sacde (section 1 and 2) and BTUs (section 3), according to Enarsa designed the award, which will use 10,000 workers at the peak of work to be reached in november.

According to information from the companies to Enarsa, the construction system will allow them to lay six kilometers of pipes per dayso that in just over three months it will be possible to reach the 583 kilometers of the work tenderedwithout contemplating possible climatic mishaps typical of any work in the open air.

The gas pipeline in its first section has a transport capacity of 11 MMm3 daybut -to that original scheme of work- Enarsa decided to add the construction of two turbochargers that will be installed in Treatyén and Saliqueló. These two teams will allow, for next winter, to increase the capacity to 20 MMm3/dwhich are in bidding process as well as the corresponding civil works.

The already standardized tasks of the construction of a gas pipeline are technically Track Opening, Trench Construction, Pipe Parade, Pipe Bending and Welding, Pipe Welding, Radiography of Welded Joints, Seven Coating and Repairs of Welded Joints, Coating and Concreting of the Pipe, Lowering of the Pipes, Covering of the Pipes, Hydrostatic Test and Internal Inspection of the Pipe.

After that sequence, the forecast is that the June 20th next year the work may reach technically fit to function for the transport of gas, which will not mean the end of the work, since they may remain pending tasks around the gas pipeline that will not alter its operation.

It will then open pipeline filling task for which the Government has just announced the Gas Plan IV and Vin order to give the necessary deadlines for the companies to carry out the investments required to inject the gas in June.
