Last week, the union began an indefinite stoppage of activities in its three plants, a measure that was accompanied by a camp in front of the Callao headquarters for 100 of the labor portfolio, where a group of delegates even stayed in one of the floors of the building last Thursday.

Meanwhile, last Saturday, the Bridgestone tire manufacturer announced the decision to “temporarily close” its operations in the country as a result of “prolonged negotiations” with Sutna within the 2021/2022 peer review.

As a result of the ongoing conflict, on September 23 Bridgestone has decided to temporarily close all operations in Argentina to protect each person who makes up our team and guarantee the integrity of our property. Saturday afternoon.

In this line, Bridgestone argued that “the well-being and safety of our employees are our most important values and, therefore, we are committed to providing a safe workplace for each employee.”

“Although it has not yet been determined when we will be able to resume operations, we will do so when we can guarantee the safety of all collaborators,” the company clarified. He stressed that he will continue “Working with the commitment to overcome this situation that currently puts the supply of tires in the market at risk”.

On Friday, another tire-producing company, Pirelli, denounced in a statement that “Sutna has kept the plant blocked for several days, altering the normal flow of the factory.”

“The nature of this methodology, in addition to being illegal, is deeply authoritarian and anti-democratic, since it violates fundamental rights such as freedom of movement and work,” the firm said. Finally, Pirelli warned that this blockade “will cause the total paralysis of the plant, and the unfortunate consequences that this entails” for the firm’s employees.

“For this reason, from the moment tire production is stopped, the factory will totally paralyze its productive activities, as long as the blockade persists, no right to receive remuneration is generated,” the company asserted.
