Sales in supermarkets grew 5.3% in July and in self-services more than 7%

Total sales at current prices in the sales room represented 96.8% of total sales and showed an increase of 82.8% compared to July 2021. For their part, total sales at current prices through the online channel they represented 3.2% of total sales, with an increase of 52.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, the official agency highlighted.

In total sales at current prices, during July 2022, the item groups with the most significant increases compared to the same month of the previous year were: “Prepared foods and rotisserie”, 101.7%; “Electronics and household items”, 93.6%; “Cleaning and perfumery articles”, 88.6% and “Bakery”, 87.5%.

Meanwhile, the jurisdictions where the most important increases in total sales at current prices were recorded were: Between Rivers, 93.3%; San Juan, 89.2%; Saint Louis, 88%; 24 parties from Greater Buenos Aires, 86.2%; and Santa Cruz, 85%.

In another order, the INDEC reported that the total employed personnel, in July 2022, reached 91,473 wage earners, of which 10,731 hold hierarchical positions, which represents 11.7% of the total number of employed persons. The remaining 88.3% is made up of cashiers, clerks and stockers, for a total of 80,742 employees.

And he added that the average gross salaries, in July 2022, were: 286,682 pesos for “Managers, supervisors and other hierarchical personnel” and 134,788 pesos for “Cashiers, administrative, stockers and others”. In the case of higher-ranking wage earners that make up this panel, there was a percentage variation of 69.0% compared to the same month of the previous year. Likewise, the “Cashiers, administrative, stockers and others” reached a percentage variation of 63.0% compared to July 2021.

While total sales at current prices revealed in the survey reached a total of 69,914.4 million pesos, which represents an increase of 167.6% compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to INDEC, in the 24 districts of Greater Buenos Aires, total sales at current prices were $21,419.3 million, which represents an increase of 190% compared to the same month of the previous year.

For its part, the Pampean Region reached total sales at current prices of 14,534.2 million pesos, with an increase of 144.8% compared to July 2021.

While sales at current prices in the Cuyo Region reached 4,871.3 million pesos, an increase of 126.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. Finally, the North and Patagonia regions obtained values ​​of 3,703.1 and 2,974.0 million pesos, with percentage increases of 120.8% and 149.3%, respectively.

The items that led sales at current prices in the shopping centers were: “Clothing, footwear and leather goods”, which represented 38.1% of the total, followed by “Food court, food and kiosks”, with 16.3%; “Sports clothing and accessories”, with 12.1%; and “Electronics, household appliances and computing”, with 10.4%.
