Mining chamber rejected advances in the discussion of the Wetlands Law

In this sense, they considered negative “any regulation proposal that from ignorance condemns production and decent quality of life in areas far from the large production centers of our country where mining is developed, and that goes against the federal spirit of our national constitution.

According to the business chamber, the projects, if approved, “would leave the country without a mining industry.”

Its progress, the letter indicated, would harm the production industry in Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, San Juan and Santa Cruz and projects in La Rioja, Mendoza, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Santiago del Estero, Río Negro, Chubut, Neuquén and Tierra del Fuego.

“And it not only means stopping new investments, but also putting at risk the work of the deposits that are already in operation,” they stressed.

A plenary session of commissions of the Chamber of Deputies will seek tomorrow to issue an opinion on a set of projects to guarantee the protection and rational use of wetlands.

The initiatives were presented by legislators from the ruling party and the opposition, in the midst of a strong demand from environmental organizations for the sanctioning of a law.
