Economic activity in the City of Buenos Aires grew 7.3%

“It should be noted that the hotel and restaurant sector continues to show a marked recovery compared to the levels recorded during the pandemic“, highlighted the statistical agency of the City.

The information was released a week after the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) did the same with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which in the April-June period had an interannual increase of 6.9%.

The quarterly indicator of economic activity at the provincial or district level is comparable to the national GDP measurement.

In the sector classification, The Commerce and services category (made up of Commerce, Hotels and restaurants, Transportation and communications, Financial intermediation, Real estate, business, community, personal and domestic services) led the increases with an 8.3% improvement compared to the second quarter of 2021.

In second place was Production of goods (Manufacturing Industry; Electricity, gas and water and Construction), with a 7.7% increase, and closed the list Public administration, health and education, with 3.3%.

Thus, The City of Buenos Aires presents six consecutive quarters of growth, after a negative string of ten consecutive periods that began in the third quarter of 2018, from the fall in national economic activity after the financial crisis that led to a process of devaluation of the peso.
