In this framework, the INDEC indicated that in interannual terms, the Salary Index showed a rise of 68.7%, as a consequence of increases of 68.7% in the registered private sector, 74.7% in the public sector and 58 .9% in the unregistered private sector.

He added that as of July 2022 the Salary Index accumulates an increase of 41.8% compared to December of the previous year, due to increases of 43.3% in the registered private sector, 45.1% in the public sector and 31.7% in the unregistered private sector.

In this way, public workers were able to increase the purchasing power of wages by a significant margin and remained close to inflation, private employees were almost two percentage points below the rise in prices during that period, and black workers were the most affected, since the value of their remuneration was far from the inflationary increase in the last year.

It should be remembered that inflation accelerated in July to 7.4% compared to June and reached the highest level since 2002 when it reached 10.4%. Meanwhile, in the last 12 months it accumulated an increase of 71%, the highest in three decadesaccording to the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

The spokesperson for the Presidency, Gabriela Cerutiratified today the “commitment and permanent work of the entire Government so that wages grow” and stressed the “urgent need to strengthen the purchasing power” of salaries.

At a press conference at Government House, the spokeswoman said that both President Alberto Fernández, Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Economy Minister Sergio Massa “constantly talk about these issues and we all agree with that diagnosis.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Economy, Serge Massaassured on Wednesday that one of its objectives is to “work for the recomposition of income in Argentina”, after warning that “the drop in income in the last six years has been very important“.

“Pandemics and wars, the first phenomenon they generate is the accumulation of income,” said the official in the framework of the presentation of the 2023 Budget project in the Chamber of Deputies.
