They estimate that Argentina will export 130,000 tons of lithium in 2023

Exhibiting this morning in the capital of Salta, in the 43rd Annual Convention of the Argentine Institute of Finance Executives (IAEF), Minister Marocco pointed out that “in Salta today we have 14 projects under construction, 3 with feasibility, 12 in the preparation stage and 14 in advanced exploration, and this will give us the possibility for Argentina to reach 130,000 tons of lithium for the the next year”.

“The work carried out, through the Lithium Table, by both provinces plus Catamarca, is part of a great movement that we activate from this important region of the country, historically neglected,” said Haquim, from Jujuy.

They emphasized the common defense of the provinces of these resources and They criticized the Wetlands Law project since they argue that “it does not favor the region” by covering its protection to areas where lithium is found.

In this framework, Marocco stressed that lithium “if there is something that it tries to preserve, it is the environment, by allowing it to break with the fossil fuel circuit in the new forms of automotive development.”

“The development of sustainable mining has allowed, through the investments that have been made for several years, to employ more than 1,500 workers in the projects that Jujuy owns,” Haquim remarked, noting that “traditional mining that has left impoverished areas” in the past.

In addition, he added that “the native peoples are part of the exploitation of lithium and have managed to develop their transport, welding, electricity companies, among other activities necessary to make the enterprises work.”

Sales de Jujuy (from the Australian firm Orocobre) will soon be joined by Cauchari Olaroz, operated by Minera Exar (with Canadian and Chinese capital and a minority share of the provincial state company Jemse).

Salta, meanwhile, will soon have the Centenario-Ratones project of the French Eramine, and Puna Mining in advanced exploration of the Australian Argosy Minerals.
