the Government promises not to touch retentions

In this framework, from the Secretary of Agriculture, they emphasize that the management of the portfolio for next year and that it is also contemplated in the 2023 Budget, will be to give greater prominence to regional economies, small and medium-sized producers, cooperatives and those sectors that have great potential in the substitution of imports and in the generation of foreign currency such as aquaculture. Special programs are already being created for each of these sectors, to which non-reimbursable funds will be allocated in most cases.

Regarding livestock, the Livestock Plan launched by former Minister Julián Domínguez will continue. that seeks to increase the availability of meat in the domestic market and thus get out of the continuous crossroads between exporting or supplying local demand.

The program that seeks to have a greater investment in technology by companies in the sector will also continue and for that the control of seeds will once again have a key role in the management of the Secretary of Agriculture.

By way of summary, Bahillo explained that “regional economies are essential for our country because they mean the generation of labor and development for each province. For this reason, we will continue to improve infrastructure through investment in works and connectivity for rural areas”.

Regarding one of the most vulnerable sectors of the agricultural business, he detailed: “All value chains need profitability and economic sustainability, but the market does not always behave harmoniously. Our duty is to order situations that are detrimental to the most vulnerable sectors: small producers”.

Going forward, Minister Massa is also excited about the prompt approval of the Agroindustrial Law since as leader of the Chamber of Deputies he was one of the promoters of this project that was approached by the Argentine Agricultural Council. This Law, as advanced by the Ministry of Economy, would bring concrete benefits for agricultural and livestock producers who make capital or technology investments. In short, the axis that the Government proposes for the field in the face of 2023 is to have the sector as an ally and not as an enemy, that is why a rise in withholdings is not thought of as possible in this context.
