As it became known, the Single Union of Ship Watchmen (SUSB) signed the salary review agreement and achieved a year-on-year increase of 94% after negotiations with the employer sector of the activity.
Workers in the sector will receive an update in their salaries starting in October in three installments, as stated in the minutes held in the afternoon by the union at the Ministry of Labor.
“We have fulfilled the commitment we have with our fellow affiliates, guaranteeing a salary increase according to the needs of the moment. We consider that it is a satisfactory agreement in an extremely complex context for all of us. Today Serenos de Buques ranks among the best agreements the country’s peers,” said Antonio Ivaldi, general secretary of SUSB.
The first installment will be effective as of October 7 for a 25% increase, the second will be 20% to be applied between December 1 and January 31, 2023, and the last consists of a 19% increase , to be effective between February 1 and March 31, 2023.
The recent increases are added to those already received by ship watchmen between April and September by 30%, according to what was achieved by the SUSB in the first tranche of the parity.
The union stressed that permanent monitoring of economic variables will remain in force and that, if necessary, progress will be made with the corresponding steps to safeguard the purchasing power of wages.
The first agreement of the 2022-2023 joint venture was held at the end of March and at that time a review clause had been set that finally materialized in the agreement.
