Massa had a brief meeting with Georgieva in Washington

The dialogue between Massa and Georgieva was not planned and lasted just a few minutes, in the context of the monetary policy meeting that is part of the agenda of the Annual Assembly of the IMF and the World Bank. Subsequently, the Bulgarian economist gave a press conference limited to said event, where she highlighted the commitment of the Argentine government to comply with the agreed program and valued the work of Massa, who in her opinion “He has taken very seriously the commitment to fulfill.”

After his brief dialogue with the director of the IMF, the minister held the meeting agreed with the Indian-American economist trained at Princeton University. “We met with Gita Gopinath, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, and the economic teams, to discuss the impact of the global crisis on middle-income countries”he pointed out in a brief tweet.

In the morning, the minister attended a working breakfast of G20 ministers hosted by India, the country that will host the forum next year, and attended a session with the IMF and its regional peers from South America and Mexico organized by Ilan Goldfajn, director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the IMF.

Massa and Goldfjan met this Wednesday in a bilateral meeting with their technical teams, where they evaluated the progress of the Argentine program in the face of the third review that will begin in November, which already has two (reserves and assistance from the Central Bank to the Treasury) of the three required goals, directed.

After the meeting with Goldfajn, the Argentine minister led a bilateral meeting with his counterpart from Brazil, Paul Guedes, with whom he spoke about “the development of integration opportunities in binational productive infrastructure.” In addition, he did the same with the secretary of the Treasury of France, Emmanuel Moulin, who is also Secretary General of the Paris Club, an organization with which Argentina must face a negotiation for the debt of US$2.4 billion.
