Economy: German electrical exports continue to grow in July

Further ground made up: In July of the current year, exports in the industry were at 18.0 billion euros, 6.8 percent above the figure for the same month last year.

The German electrical industry continues to make up ground after the low blow in the Corona crisis in 2020.

In July of the current year, the exports of the industry were at 18.0 billion euros, 6.8 percent above the value of the same month last year, as the Central Association of Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry (ZVEI) announced in Frankfurt on Tuesday. “This means that the latest growth was lower than in the four previous months, in which – not least due to base effects – double-digit rates of increase had been achieved,” explained ZVEI chief economist Andreas Gontermann.

In the first seven months as a whole, the industry’s exports totaled 126.7 billion euros – an increase of 12.0 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. In June, the German electrical industry set out to make up for the minus six percent production losses of 2020 in the current year. At the time, the ZVEI raised the forecast for production growth for the full year 2021 from five to eight percent.
