The annual ancillary housing costs in Germany differ greatly from city to city. While a tenant in Regensburg pays an average of 915 euros, in Leverkusen almost double that is charged.
According to a new study, the fees for sewage, garbage and the amount of property tax vary greatly between the individual municipalities in Germany.
These annual ancillary living costs for a model household in the Bavarian city of Regensburg are on average around 915 euros, as a comparison by the research company IW Consult for the owners’ association Haus und Grund showed. In Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, on the other hand, the same model household paid 2046 euros, more than twice as much.
The basis for the calculation was a symbolic stand-alone model house with 120 square meters of living space and four residents – a common benchmark, which, however, does not always correspond to the average household type in large cities.
