As Wiener Linien announced in a broadcast on Monday, an adjusted timetable will apply to eleven of the 28 tram lines and nine of the 131 bus lines from November 3rd. No changes are currently planned for the subways. The range of interval stretching for trams and buses is in the range from 15 seconds to a maximum of 40 seconds. When trains are unplanned, there can be intervals of up to 30 minutes. “This is to be avoided with this measure, although short-term failures – especially due to unforeseeable corona developments – cannot be completely ruled out,” says Wiener Linien.
The reason for the measure is the tense labor market: “Like many other sectors, the generation change and the tense situation on the labor market associated with it, among other things, also poses great personnel challenges for Wiener Linien. The public transport company has been preparing for the wave of retirements for a long time and takes a variety of measures to make jobs more attractive,” the company said.
