The plan foresees the execution of railway works, such as the renovation of roads and infrastructure, signaling and telecommunications; and the transformation to a different level of the level crossings.

It also contemplates civil worksas the enhancement of stations and environmentsconstruction of railway workshops and operating buildings and the electrification of the Belgrano Sur line.

Among the objectives of the works, that of electrification stands out, since the entity highlights its interest in reducing Greenhouse Gases in transport and emphasizes that the investment for improvements in public transport will contribute to reducing the use of private transport.

It also includes railway planning and investment preparationthe resilience to climate change and technological innovation, gender perspective and strengthening of universal accessibilityand response to contingent emergencies.

The execution of the project and the use of the resources of the loan granted by the Bank will be carried out by the Ministry of Transport, through the State Railway Infrastructure Administration (ADIF).

The works will benefit more than 2 million users and the loan has a variable spread, is repayable over 32 years, and has a 7-year grace period.

This is the second credit articulated by the World Bank, intended for transportation in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Buenos Aires. In 2021, a loan for US$347 million was approved for the modernization of the Miter Line.
