For its part, total sales at current prices through the online channel totaled 7,245,592 thousand pesos, which represents 3.2% of total saleswith an increase of 55.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.
In turn, last month, total sales at current prices made in cash rose to 67,238,056 thousand pesoswhich represents 29.8% of total sales and shows an increase of 76.1% compared to August 2021. For its part, those made by debit card totaled 67,295,008 thousand pesoswhich represents 29.8% of total sales and a positive variation of 89.9% compared to the same month of the previous year.
At the same time, total sales at current prices paid by credit card totaled 81,530,628 thousand pesos, which represents 36.2% of total sales and a percentage change compared to August 2021 of 84.3%. Finally, those made through other means of payment amounted to 9,446,860 thousand pesos, which represents 4.2% of the total and shows an increase of 35.3% compared to the same month of the previous year.
Of the total sales at current prices, which were 225,510,552 thousand pesos, 189,757,844 thousand pesos (84.1%) correspond to supermarkets that have a total sum of the sales floor area of all their outlets greater than 100,000 m2; and 35,752,708 thousand pesos (15.9%) corresponds to supermarkets that have a total sum of the sales floor area of all their outlets less than or equal to 100,000 m2.
In total sales at current prices, during August 2022, the item groups with the most significant increases compared to the same month of the previous year were: “Greengrocers and greengrocers”, 107.6%; “Prepared foods and rotisserie”, 103.9%; “Bakery”, 93.1% and “Cleaning and perfumery articles”, 86.6%.
The jurisdictions where the most important rises in total sales were registered at prices currents were: Entre Ríos, 94.8%; Chaco, 92.2%; Saint Louis, 85.7%; Missions, 85.4%; and Tierra del Fuego, 84.1%.

Total sales at current prices in August 2022, compared to sales in the same month of the previous year, reflected that the items with the greatest increase were: “Fun and recreation”, 220.4%; “Food court, food and kiosks”, 162.3%; “Bookstore and stationery”, 125.0%; and “Toy Store”, 124.9%.
