The head of the Treasury Palace acknowledged that the way to implement the measure generated an internal discussion in the Government, while he held talks with the Minister of Labor, Kelly Olmos, the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro, the President Alberto Fernández and Vice President Cristina Kirchner.
“Some decision we have to make”anticipated the official without indicating the form or the term in which it will be carried out.
Massa justified the delay of the measure by exposing the situation of vulnerability of the accounts of the different levels of the State.
He explained, in this regard, that “60% of the salaries that are below $120,000 and those that had less recovery, belong to municipal employees.”
“If one looks at the state of the public finances of the municipalities, if we put a fixed sum into it, I ruin their accounts,” explained Massa.
In that sense, he pointed out: “Today we find ourselves with the particularity that the national State has very delicate accounts, so I would say that we have to find a mechanism that allows us to resolve the situation of all the workers.”
“Because it could happen that we make the decision to benefit private sector workers and leave one million two hundred thousand municipal workers by the side of the road”he warned.
Inflation
As to inflation, he trusted that the CPI for 2023 will be below 60% that provides for the Budget project that has the approval of the Chamber of Deputies, while rejecting the idea that a shock policy is necessary to curb the inertia of prices.
“We are going to grow. We are going to have much less inflation than this year,” Massa told El Destape radio, referring to the 60% forecast for next year.
The head of the Palacio de Hacienda indicated: “From the ministry we set a goal in the Budget, moderate, minimum, so as not to fall into a discussion with the opposition and the provincial parties.”
“I think it’s going to be less than the Budget numbers, it’s more, I’m sure it’s going to be less and I’m sure we’re going to grow a little more than what we put in,” Massa assured in relation to 2023 inflation.
