On Thursday of this week, the company’s workers began to receive emails in which they were notified of their dismissal or warned not to go to the office because they were dismissed.
In total, they were fired half of the 7,500 workers that they received an email on the same Thursday that read: “Today is your last day of work in the company”.
Musk last week finalized the long-delayed purchase of Twitterafter announcing it in April, for US$44 billion.
The workers of the social network had already expressed their fears about dismissals, once it was announced that they would go ahead with the purchase. The new owner had let it be known that he planned to reduce the company’s workforce by at least 3,700 seatsalmost half of the staff.
Immediately after closing the purchase, Musk also fired four of the main managers: to the executive director, Parag Agrawal; to the financial chief, Ned Segal; to the General Counsel, Sean Edgett; and the legal director, vijaya gadde.
Upon taking control of Twitter, he asked department heads to make lists of employees who could be fired.

Regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day.
Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severity, which is 50% more than legally required.
