In which German cities is it best to live, work and live? This is examined once a year by experts from IW Consult, an analysis company affiliated with the German Economic Institute, together with Immobilienscout24 and Wirtschaftswoche. 71 major cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants are evaluated and ranked according to various criteria.
The city ranking is divided into a “level ranking” that reflects the current situation and a “dynamic ranking” that specifically highlights the development of the last five years. Unsurprisingly, the level ranking is dominated by wealthy southern German cities such as Munich, Erlangen and Stuttgart. In the dynamic ranking, on the other hand, some rising cities appear that are less important.
The photo series shows the top ten cities in the dynamic ranking. The list allows a small glimpse into the future. “Experience shows that the cities that do well in the dynamic ranking also rise in the level ranking with a slight time lag,” says Immoscout24 Managing Director Gesa Crockford.
