Customs denounced a company for evading US$11.5 million

The complaint filed by the General Directorate of Customs, by Guillermo Michel, fell to Federal Court No. 4 of Rosario, where it was ordered to Gendarmerie carrying out eight raids this morning in said city and its surroundings.

According to the documentation presented by the customs agency, the exporting company would have underinvoiced more than 11.5 million dollars. It would be equivalent to 50% of exports between 2021 and first semester of 2022.

When asked about the case, the head of the General Directorate of Customs said that the agency is “fighting this type of behavior” in order to “avoid irregular exports that affect the currencies of the Central Bank.”

“Our objective is to defend the local industry and ensure that agricultural producers who act in compliance with the laws can compete on equal terms,” ​​he added.

underbilling

The maneuver carried out by the company GEO SRL consisted of export the under-invoiced product to Chile, but triangulating the sale of the merchandise through a Uruguayan firm.

It operated as a trading company, but in reality its only function was to invoice the sale to Chile for the real value of the merchandise, leaving the currency difference between the two sales in Uruguay; avoiding with that the liquidation of the currencies in the local exchange market and evading export duties.

From the investigation carried out by specialized agents of the DGA It was determined that the value of the merchandise exported in that period -declared at US$11.5 million dollars-, is under-invoiced by approximately 50% of its value, with the Republic of Chile as the main destination for exports.

In addition, in an exchange of customs information with the Chilean Customs, adulterated documents were detected.

Raids

The Federal Court No. 4 of Rosario in charge of Dr. Marcelo Bailaque, with the intervention of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office No. 1 of Rosario in charge of Dr. Javier Arzubi Calvo ordered the eight raids carried out this morning at the homes of the company and its partners, which were processed by personnel from the General Directorate of Customs with the collaboration of the National Gendarmerie.

In these raids, the documentation hijacking relevant to the cause and electronic devices, also being in cash more than 420,000 dollars and 7,000,000 pesos.

Export

The company exported more than 46,000 tons of fatty acids and oleinby-products of soybean oil refining, a commodity that gained momentum and increased its price exponentially in the international market in the last three years.

It is a product that is applied to various uses: the production of balanced feed for animals, alternative fuels and others.

As reported, the national body detected an alleged violation, at least, of the customs and criminal tax regime by the soybean oil exporting firm with its plant located in Piñero and commercial offices in Rosario.
