Under “CEOs for Future” (C4F), 55 member companies are committed to shaping the future of young people in a sustainable manner. C4F conducted a survey among the member companies: This shows that the apprentices are the focus of many companies. 60 percent of them care about their education.
83 percent say that the topics of biodiversity, climate protection and circular economy should be dealt with more in the training plans of vocational schools. 64 percent speak of outdated curricula in vocational schools.
However, the companies are committed to creating better conditions in their own homes: Silvia Angelo, board member of ÖBB-Infrastruktur, said at a press conference this week that 80 percent of the apprentices stay after their training.
“Many young people don’t think it’s sexy to work with plastic,” said Manfred Stanek, Managing Director of Greiner Packaging, which currently has 74 apprentices. It is about showing young people that they are part of the solution and not part of the problem. Those who fit into the company will also be taken on. Asfinag offers apprentices a mentoring program.
