Actual wages in the metal industry increase by 7 percent

The KV minimum wages will be raised by 8 percent on January 1, 2023, the actual wages will increase by 7.1 percent, apprentices will receive up to 10.2 percent more money and the climate ticket. The future minimum wage will be EUR 2,234.52. The allowances increase by up to 8.3 percent. This was announced by the PRO-GE union in a broadcast.

“The agreement in the metal trade, negotiated by social partners, permanently strengthens the purchasing power of the workers. A great package with strong increases and a free climate ticket was also put together for the 18,000 apprentices,” says PRO-GE national chairman Rainer Wimmer.

Around 110,000 workers and 18,000 apprentices are affected. The KV includes various professional groups, such as electrical engineering, metal technology, mechatronics, vehicle mechanics and plumbers. The basis for the negotiations was inflation for the 12 months from September 2021 to August 2022 of 6.3 percent.
