Energy: Lubmin: LNG terminal launch delayed

The LNG terminal was actually supposed to start on December 1st. But now the start has been delayed. What are the reasons?

According to the initiators, the terminal for liquefied natural gas currently being built in Lubmin will probably not be ready for operation on December 1st. Rather, the conditions have been created “to technically complete the LNG terminal at short notice and put it into operation in December,” said Stephan Knabe, the chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Regas on Tuesday. Originally, the company had called December 1st – Thursday – as the targeted start date.

“Now we just have to wait for the permits and favorable weather and then we can start,” Knabe was quoted as saying. Approvals are pending from the State Office for Agriculture and the Environment in Western Pomerania and the European Commission.

A large special ship, which is to receive the liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Lubmin and bring it back into the gaseous state, arrived in Mukran on Rügen last week and still has to be brought to Lubmin.
