“The scientific quality of the habilitation work is evidence of the impressive expertise of both experts,” said Elgin Drda, Vice Rector for Medicine at the JKU. It was she who presented Eva Sames-Dolzer and Michael Guger with the certificate for their habilitation.
Sames-Dolzer works at the Kepler University Hospital in cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery. In her habilitation thesis she wrote about “The treatment of patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and borderline large left ventricle”. Guger heads the Department of Neurology at the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr. His habilitation thesis deals with the “Austrian Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Register and its evaluations in an international context”. In the case of a habilitation, applicants must prove their ability to teach in an academic evaluation. Students would benefit from Sames-Dolzer and Guger’s “scientific passion,” Drda said.
