In the previous survey carried out by ADIMRA in August, the number of companies that expected an improvement in the following three months was 31% and those that expected a decline was 25%.

“In relation to production expectations for the next three months, there was a drop in the percentage of companies that foresee an increase in the level of activity, reversing the optimistic trend for the short term that the sector had been reflecting during the first half. of the year”, says ADIMRA in its report.

The work highlights that production expectations by region, the most optimistic province was Buenos Aires (including CABA), where 23% of the companies in the region foresee an increase in activity, followed by Entre Ríos where the percentage of positive vision was 20%.

While, in Mendoza and Santa Fe only 14% of companies expect an increase in their level of production. On the contrary, Córdoba was the least optimistic, the percentage of businessmen expecting an increase in activity was 3%.

What can happen to employment

The lower outlook for activity is reflected in employment. “Taking into account the average employment expectations for the third quarter of the year, a less optimistic look was observed compared to previous quarters,” says ADIMRA.

The work states that “only 11 percent of companies foresee an increase in their staff, while 18 percent of employers expect a decrease in the level of employment.”

On the other hand, the report indicates that “metallurgical activity registered an increase of 3.4% in interannual terms during October and a fall of 2.6% compared to September, reflecting a slowdown in the growth of activity.”

“At the sectoral level, the growth rate in most metallurgical items also slowed down. Meanwhile, the agricultural machinery sector registered a sharp drop in its level of activity.

On the contrary, the items that pushed the most upwards were Foundry, Auto Parts and Medical Equipment,” the report indicates.
