Bahn KV: Negotiations are to be continued next week

After a warning strike a week ago, a better basis for discussion should be restored. According to employee representative Gerhard Tauchner from the Vida union, this was also successful. Talks are expected to resume in a week.

The round of negotiations took place at 3 p.m. in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ) and lasted almost an hour and a half. According to Tauchner, the most important points for further negotiations were clarified during today’s round. It was about probing where who could give in. Employer representative Thomas Scheiber, chairman of the Railway Association, was online during today’s negotiations. According to Tauchner, an agreement should be reached in one of the next rounds of negotiations, which are planned for December 12th and 13th. The demands of the workers were never set in stone, but what is needed is a sustained salary increase, Tauchner explained.

The vida union recently called for a wage increase of the KV and actual wages by 400 euros. This corresponds to an average increase of 12 percent. The employer representatives recently offered 8.4 percent or a minimum increase of 208 euros.
