Beer drinkers now have to be very strong: Raderberger, the largest beer producer in Germany, has apparently announced price increases. According to information from the “Lebensmittel Zeitung”, beer prices are expected to rise by up to 6 percent.

39 beer brands are part of the Radeberger Group

The Radeberger Group is part of the Oetker Group and has a total of 39 beer brands from all regions of the country in its range. Whether Altbier, Kölsch, Pils or wheat – the price increase will affect the following brands:

  • Allgäu brewery
  • Altenmünster
  • Berliner Kindl
  • Berliner Kindl Weisse
  • Berliner Pilsner
  • Binding
  • BraufactuM
  • Brinkhoff’s No. 1
  • Clausthaler
  • DAB
  • Dortmund crowns
  • Dom Kölsch
  • Freiberger
  • Guild Kölsch
  • Guinness
  • Green beer
  • Rabbits
  • Henninger
  • Hop House 13
  • Planers
  • Jever
  • Jever Fun
  • Kilkenny
  • Scheyern Abbey beers
  • Krusovice
  • Mahn & Ohlerich
  • Oberdorfer Helles
  • Radeberger Pilsner
  • Rostock
  • Castles old
  • Schöfferhofer
  • Schöfferhofer wheat mix
  • Schultheiss
  • Sion Kölsch
  • Sternburg
  • Stuttgarter Hofbräu
  • Tucher
  • Ur-Krostitzer
  • Wicküler

Price increases also at juice and soft drink manufacturers

According to “Lebensmittel Zeitung”, Germany’s largest brewing group wants to enforce higher sales prices for many brands, apparently to different degrees. Radeberger did not want to speak to the “Lebensmittel Zeitung” on the subject.

Beer drinkers apparently still have time: the price increases are not due to take place until May 2022. As the “Lebensmittel Zeitung” reports, the surcharge “should be between 6 and 7 euros per hectolitre for bottle and can.” That would be about 6 percent.

In fact, it is not surprising that brewers are also planning price increases. Eckes-Granini has already increased the prices for its juices. And soft drinks will also be more expensive soon: Coca-Cola has already announced to its trading partners that it will soon raise prices. The reasons for the price adjustments are basically the same: Sharply rising costs for energy, transport and packaging affect all manufacturers in a similar way. The result: price increases across the board.

The fact that beer brewers will not raise prices until next year obviously has to do with Corona: During the pandemic, beer sales have collapsed: there are no folk festivals and major events. Most breweries had to throw away a lot of beer at the beginning of the year because it could no longer be kept. In May 2022, the pandemic could already be history – and then hopefully there will be a lot to celebrate again.
