After six unsuccessful negotiations for a new collective agreement and the first warning strikes in the brewing industry, the unions are calling for an initial 24-hour strike starting Sunday evening. The start for employees in shift work is on Sunday at 10 p.m., according to a broadcast. For everyone else, the walkout starts on Monday.

Employers still had the opportunity “to move” and avert the strikes until 8 p.m., said Reiter. However, she classified the probability that something would still happen today as “very low”. The union is currently demanding a wage increase of 10 percent, while the employer’s offer is 7 percent.
The strike, which starts on Sunday evening, is initially scheduled for 24 hours, but could also be extended. The next meeting is scheduled for December 21st. From the point of view of the union, this is “very late”.
Further measures not excluded
If the employers do not change anything in their offer after the strike, further measures cannot be ruled out. “We have to increase our measures. If we don’t hear anything, it will continue,” said Reiter.
Negotiations had already gone on for eleven hours on Friday without a result, and another round of talks on Sunday afternoon also yielded no result. At the end of November, shorter warning strikes took place at some locations. In Upper Austria there were only “mini strikes” at the time:
