Alliance of three large business chambers to request labor and tax reform

As Ámbito was able to find out, they are going to talk about four major issues related to the Argentine business scene. On the one hand, They will present proposals to the Government for labor, tax and financial reform. “These are debates that the political class is not giving, they are indebted to the productive sector,” said a source who will participate in the meeting.

Although the three business union chambers have different interests due to the sizes of the companies that comprise them, As for structural reforms, they share the same ideas. With nuances, they agree that “labor adaptation” is needed, greater support from the banking system, and changes in the tax system, to avoid “anarchy” between the different provinces, according to private sector sources.

They are looking to create something like a Liaison Table, but not for the agricultural sector, but rather for bringing together industry, commerce and services, with a presence throughout the country. Although the idea is that of the Liaison Table, as a union that can bring together various entities, the profile will be more similar to that of the Argentine Agroindustrial Council, which was established as a body that sought to “negotiate” and not confront, and that in fact, together with the Government, drafted an agro-industrial bill with benefits for the sector. Although the initiative reached the Chamber of Deputies, it has not yet been approved.

But in addition, current issues will be present. The urgency, the three entities agree, goes through imports. In fact, this Tuesday the UIA held the usual meeting of the Board of Directors and in a statement, with a subtle tone, referred to the subject: “The difficulties in accessing imported inputs, the rise in rates and the search for mechanisms to boost industrial activity were some of the issues discussed.”

According to a survey carried out by Ámbito in different business chambers, although the issue of imports continues to be the main concern, the businessmen consulted assure that the SIRA mechanism, which replaced the SIMI, “is more orderly”, and in recent weeks there have been “new approvals”. However, they explained that the minimum term given by SIRA for access to the official dollar to import inputs is 60 days. So that the problem is not so much about approval, but about getting financing. Thus, the problems are not located in specific sectors, but rather in those smaller companies that cannot obtain credit abroad, or cannot get their clients to finance them.

One of the organizers of the meeting assured that the entities feel the need to “put debates on the table”, so that later laws with which they do not coincide do not come out, and they gave the example of teleworking. “We are the three business union entities of the productive sector. The other meetings like IDEA are for businessmen or executives, but not trade unions”, stated one of the organizers.

Between CAC and CAME there is usually more relationship because they share parities with the trade union. Although they assure that they have different interests, since CAC and UIA represent medium-sized and large commercial and industrial companies (respectively), while CAME brings together small and medium-sized ones, they assure that there are many points in common, such as working for the system Argentine productive. “The presidents of the main business chambers of industry, commerce and services will debate for the first time at CAME on the problems faced by Argentine companies and They will evaluate possible solutions.assures the communiqué released by CAME.
