“The lion’s den”: Carsten Maschmeyer wants it “Founding father” be

Finally showering without a guilty conscience? the “Lions’ den” make it possible. Fans of a sustainable wet shave also got their money’s worth in the current episode. The upset, however, were two very young nerds who wanted to do big business.

The term young entrepreneur is perfect for them: Davis and Berkay, the inventors of MyTaag. At 17 and 18, they were the youngest founders ever in the “Lions’ den” appeared. Davis, the underage part of the duo, had to negotiate hard with his school and the youth welfare office in order to even gain legal capacity. Can such youngsters be serious business partners? Four out of five lions said no. Only one presented itself as “Founding father” an.

The presented products:

– Brass shower water saver

Fun With Balls – Console that combines gaming and sports

Lion child – Baby clothes with integrated herbal pillows

– Sustainable oscillating head razor

MyTaag – Digital business cards

The youngest deal ever

It remains to be seen whether MyTag is the invention the world has been waiting for. Using a card with a QR code or a sticker that is stuck to the back of the cell phone, users can exchange contact details and social media links with one another. Goodbye analog business card is the motto. But no lion really caught fire. Judith Williams objected that she already made almost exclusively paperless contacts and did not see the need. The fact that it was enough for a deal in the end was entirely due to the founders’ youth. “If I were in your class, you would be my role model”, said Carsten Maschmeyer, who developed strong fatherly feelings in the face of the two nerds. He gave them the 50,000 euros they wanted without negotiating. He’s likely putting an intern on the project.

Founder of the heart

The daughter gives her father a 3D printer for Christmas – and what does he do with it? He creates a shapely swing head razor without plastic. Up to 500 million interchangeable heads made of non-recyclable mixed material, father and daughter calculated for the investors, end up in the garbage every year. That should be thanks Be over. The proud price for so much sustainability, however: over 100 euros per razor. While Carsten Maschmeyer (“I always shave with a dry razor”) and Dagmar Wöhrl (“I’ve never shaved my legs before”) quickly got out of the auction, Ralf Dümmel shot a volley of superlatives at the founding duo (“Hammer! Hammer! Hammer!”). The award went to the double lions Rosberg / Williams. Judith Williams had apparently found the right words. “From you”, she said, “there is such a beautiful energy going out and I want to be part of that energy.”

Shower without a guilty conscience

This was not a negotiation for warm showerers. Karsten and Alexander von have developed a brass filter for shower fittings that uses 50 percent less water. A “little wonder” the founders promised that water would be their product “fluffy like mousse au chocolat” make. The problem: The duo has only sold 550 pieces since 2017. Georg Kofler: “That’s a little bit for the fact that you are revolutionizing the German installation trade.” Because of other jobs, they could not have looked after Puregreen for two years, Karsten and Alexander explained the sad turnover. But this argument really pissed off Carsten Maschmeyer: “What kind of start-up attitude is that?”he etched. “You are looking for a lion who will save your bum and silver your product. Not with me.” Bang. Ralf Dümmel didn’t care. He only saw shelves full of shower filters. “I don’t like your product – I think it’s sensational!” Deal Dümmel.

No deal of the week

She’s got such a merciless rejection “Lions’ den” not seen yet. The company Fun With Balls manufactured giant touchscreens for hotels and fitness centers before the pandemic, with which it combined gaming with sports. Then Corona came and the business collapsed completely. In an emergency, the founding duo shrunk their large-scale physical gaming idea to a 3D game console for the home. What didn’t shrink was the company’s valuation: 16 million euros. Carsten Maschmeyer cooked. “You are corona losers”, rumbled, “but calls up a rating that fits Corona winners. That is not investable on these terms.” Then he looked around and asked: “Does anyone want to make an offer here? Otherwise I would say we’re out.”
