The SES shopping centers, which belong to the Spar grocer, draw a positive interim balance of the Christmas business so far. “The purchasing power is there, sales are above the level of 2019,” said yesterday, Wednesday, Christopher AndexlingerManaging Director of SES Spar European Shopping Centers.
SES operates 30 shopping centers in six countries, including the Weberzeile in Ried im Innkreis, the Varena in Vöcklabruck and the max.Center in Wels in Upper Austria. The mood of the dealers in the shopping centers is “very positive”. The pre-crisis period can also be followed in terms of frequency. Now it depends on the remaining days until Christmas, said Andexlinger. The average length of stay is 100 minutes in larger shopping centers and one hour in smaller ones.
SES is also concerned about the high energy prices. “We have to pass some of the increases on to our tenants,” said Andexlinger. However, one should not forget that not only costs but also sales are increasing.
