Nicolini thanked those who participated with their testimonies: authorities from the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the Secretary of Energy, the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires, the proposing companies, State Organizations, Conicet, the scientific community, civil organizations, unions and environmental movements.
The consultation (fourth on offshore issues and second cited by this Ministry) sought to put the possibility of carrying out 3D seismic prospecting in the North Atlantic Basin (CAN 102) for public consideration.
According to official data, 1,536 people registered, of whom 631 actually presented their presentations and of these, 62%, some 394, were strongly in favor of the hydrocarbon activity; against 235 negative votes.
“Among the different issues that were addressed -said Nicolini- we found: the importance of caring for marine biodiversity, measures to mitigate the impacts on fishing navigation, the benefits of the project in the country’s macroeconomics, marine spatial planning for sustainable management of marine ecosystems with the inter-ministerial work that Pampa Azul and the Energy Transition have been leading“.

In addition to Nicolini, the Public Hearing that began on Monday, December 19, was attended by the Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royón; and the Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons, Federico Bernal, among others.
