In the 2021/22 season, a good 233,000 pairs were sold, 20 percent fewer than in the previous winter. This number almost halved the pre-Corona record season 2019/20, in which almost 445,000 pairs of skis were sold, according to data from the Association of Sporting Goods Manufacturers and Sports Equipment Suppliers in Austria (VSSÖ).
This year, the association expects a stabilization. Sales increased worldwide. “In the current 22/23 season we are seeing a clear recovery in the market. The reason for this is the good booking situation in the ski areas over Christmas,” says Michael Schineis from Amer Sports and the VSSÖ Executive Committee.
