Gragger & Cie GmbH based in Vienna with the Upper Austrian main shareholder Helmut Gragger has to register over-indebtedness again, Creditreform and KSV 1870 announced on Thursday. Gragger is considered a pioneer in the field of organic wood-fired oven baking, has developed its own ovens and operates four branches in Vienna. The main production was in Ansfelden. 2008, two years after founding the organic bakery, Gragger had to file for insolvency for the first time because his main customer, an insolvent organic market, had lost his footing. The current company was founded in 2009.
50 employees are affected
The organic bakery with 50 employees got into trouble as a result of the Covid 19 crisis. According to the application for insolvency, which is available to the OÖ Nachrichten, it came to Drop in sales as a result of the absence of tourists and casual customers due to increased home office. Other reasons for the over-indebtedness are the lack of staff and the general economic situation as well as the increase in energy costs, which is why the demand for high-priced bakery products is falling sharply. However, the expansion strategy brought new debts instead of new customers. In June 2022, the “Stolz auf Wien” Beteiligungs-GmbH participated to improve the financing.
In the course of the restructuring process, parts of the Vienna branches and the bakery in Ansfelden are to be closed. The liabilities are 1.16 million, the assets 157,000 euros. Employee claims are paid by October 31, 2022. A recovery plan was presented.
The Sarleinsbacher Helmut Gragger was always socially committed, supported apprentices with learning difficulties, paid attention to environmentally friendly production and endeavored to continue the handicraft.
