As the online platform “futurezone.at” writes, Austria can no longer be specified as a delivery destination on the e-commerce platform. The medium also refers to complaints in several Internet forums. It is unclear why the delivery was stopped: inquiries to AliExpress customer service sometimes gave different explanations.
These ranged from “logistics reasons” to a “legal adjustment”. Here “futurezone.at” is citing a change in the packaging regulations that has been in effect since January 1st. Accordingly, foreign mail order companies that have no registered office or branch in Austria must appoint an authorized representative in order to be able to deliver to end customers in the country. This authorized representative assumes the legal obligations relating to packaging.
The post office cannot confirm the delivery stop from AliExpress on APA request. A spokesman for the Post said to “futurezone.at”: “Our contracts with AliExpress and its logistics partners are still valid. We are currently also delivering shipments that AliExpress has already handed over to us for transport.”
The trade association also currently has no perception on the subject, as the APA said. For the time being, no feedback was received from the AliExpress parent company Alibaba.
