The Government formalized the departure of the president of the Mint

Despite the fact that the decree speaks of “resignation”, last week it was learned that it was Sergio Massa who fired Gabrielli from his position, dissatisfied with his work with the entity. The news was released late on Thursday, on the eve of of the new year, when the Ministry of Economy received the results of Gabrielli’s management during 2022. At the moment it is not known who will be his replacement.

Who was Gabrielli?

Economist and member of the Justicialista Party, the now former official was born in 1951 in the town of Tunuyán, Mendoza. He was Minister of Economy of that province between 1987 and 1991.

Later, between 1991 and 1995, he was Governor of Mendoza, but later held the position of Minister of the Interior of the Nation during the fleeting presidencies of Adolfo Rodríguez Saá, Eduardo Camaño and Eduardo Duhalde, in the midst of the 2001 crisis.

In addition, he was a national deputy, Vice President of the Banco de la Nación; first President of ARSAT and head of the National Civil Aviation Administration of the Argentine Republic.

His management at the head of the Casa de la Moneda, the state company dedicated to the manufacture of banknotes and coins, dates from May 2020, when President Alberto Fernández appointed him to that position.
