They pay up to $10,000 per month but there is a lack of professionals

According to a report from the Salary Guide, prepared by the consultancy Adecco Argentina, the demand for profiles was transformed from the beginning of the pandemic to the present. The digital profiles, that before the irruption of the coronavirus had a significant preponderance, today they have an even more relevant role.

Currently, the demand does not come exclusively from areas historically linked to the digital world, but also from more conservative sectors that after Covid-19 have begun a transformation by incorporating new tools.

The combination of both aspects, added to the lack of qualified talent, led to the existence today of a deficit of positions to cover. According to CESSI data, the value historically was located at 5,000 jobs, but this figure can reach 15,000 considering the unsatisfied demand for IT positions in other sectors of the economy.

The consultant’s report indicates that, on the one hand, there is a shortage of talent and on the other, a high demand for front end developers (frontal development). In particular, these professionals are the programmers in charge of making a website attractive to the user and, at the same time, working correctly.

Its responsibility is that the visual part of the web has an intuitive and attractive design for the user. He works from the client side, interpreting and adapting web development languages to create the final experience.

A junior developer job can offer a starting salary of $1,000, while those with experience and aspiring to a senior position can earn up to $10,000 per month.

According to Ignacio D’Aloisio, Employment Consultant for the Technology Division of Adecco Argentina, the high demand for front-end developers “It’s because the world has gone digital”. “No industry is safe from the disruptive threat brought by new technologies,” she noted.

Regarding the shortage, he explained that “it’s really a lack of qualified engineers and not a general lack of talent.” And it manifests itself in two ways: by “the lack of in-demand skills and particular positions that are difficult to fill, and the shortage of skills in emerging technologies such as blockchain, machine learning, IoT Y cloud security”.

Regarding the degree of knowledge, front-end developers usually achieve degree courses such as computer engineering, programming or systems analysis. But there are also self-taught students due to the high demand for employment and the learning resources available on the internet.

It should be noted that they are not designers, but instead collect the documents and guidelines of the design team to translate them into code and are in charge of turning those ideas into reality. For this reason, good communication between the front-end developer and his allies is essential: the UX designer, the back-end developer, who will work together with the person responsible for the product.

Job opportunities for a front end developer

Due to the high demand from a large part of the economic activities, front end developers have very good job placement rates. This is a necessary position due to the growing global digitization and a professional profile required in various sectors and types of companies.

D’Aloisio explains that “A front-end developer can work for sectors as diverse as technology itself, that of health, that of architecture, that of the hotel industry and in an endless number of other areas. He can find work both in a startup and in an SME, in a web agency, in a multinational or even working as a freelance; In short, wherever tech solutions are required”

This variety of companies that the front-end can work for is what leads to a wide salary range. Not all front-end developers earn the same, since their salary depends on their specialty, experience, and the type of company they work for or their tasks.

The importance of soft skills

In addition to technical programming skills and design knowledge, it is also essential that the developer have soft skills, just as necessary. From Adecco Argentina, they point out the importance of:

Be a good communicator: The developer must develop code, so he must be able to make himself understood by everyone on his team, and possibly meet with clients. Knowing how to express yourself clearly is essential.

Teamwork: It is essential, even if you work independently. At some point, it will be necessary to ask for advice or help from a member of the team, in addition to supporting others by collaborating with their skills and knowledge.

Be decisive: you must have the ability to solve problems, it is very common for problems to arise. Companies will evaluate this, and the attitude and reaction to it together with the ability to solve it.
