A company from abroad has bought a German sharing provider and now wants to noticeably increase the car sharing offer. The focus is on major German cities.
Car sharing is becoming increasingly popular in Germany. This has also been noticed abroad. The Israeli supplier Go To Global buys the Berlin motor scooter sharer Emmy in order to enter the German market. Go To Global has a fleet of 5000 vehicles and is currently active in Israel, Spain and Malta. In Germany, the company wants to offer a fleet of cars, mopeds and e-scooters or e-bicycles, as the “Handelsblatt” reports.
The 300,000 existing customers are particularly interesting, says Go-To-Global boss Gil Laser. Emmy owns more than 3000 electric mopeds and is active in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. Finally, the Go To Global car sharing service is to be introduced in the three major cities.
Emmy co-founder Valerian will stay with the company since then and implement the concept of the Israeli provider in German cities. “The sale supports our vision of making our own car superfluous,” says Seither. Emmy last received a “low double-digit million amount” at the end of last year, some of which was intended as a loan for new mopeds.
The car sharing offer is scheduled to start in mid-2022
From the middle of next year, Go To Global customers will be able to rent not only mopeds but also cars in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. So the car sharing offer continues to grow. As of January 2021, there are around 230 car sharing providers in Germany. Share Now, consisting of Car2Go and DriveNow, is the largest provider in Germany with three million customers. This is followed by Flinkster and Miles.
Go To Global, however, has even bigger goals. By the middle of the decade, the company plans to expand its offering to all major cities in Europe. Go To Global expects its sales to double this year. And by the end of 2023 it aims to generate annual sales of 100 million euros.
