The Sparkasse Oberösterreich announced on Wednesday that there was a “generational change” on the board. The mandate of Herbert Walzhofer, board member for private customers, will expire on December 31, 2023. The contracts with CEO Stefanie Christina Huber and CFO Maximilian Pointner were unanimously and prematurely extended by the Supervisory Board until the end of 2027 and the end of 2025.
It has not yet been announced who will succeed Walzhofer. The vacant positions would be filled in a timely manner, it said. Since it was founded in 1849, Sparkasse Oberösterreich has stood for stability, security and an orientation towards the common good. Customer proximity was also emphasized on Wednesday. This obliges the supervisory board to “make decisions in good time that will ensure a smooth flow of further generational changes in the long term,” said supervisory board chairman Rudolf Kraus.
There was a bang around Walzhofer in 2018. It was announced in June that he would be leaving the board on January 1, 2019. It was in the room that he would move to Vienna. In September, the then 56-year-old’s contract with Sparkasse Oberösterreich was extended by five years.
