In 2022, Austrians saved an average of 247 euros per month for pensions. The amount has increased again compared to previous years. In 2021 it was 226 euros and in 2020 161 euros. This is the result of an IMAS survey commissioned by Erste Bank Austria and Wiener Städtische Versicherung.
In Upper Austria, the most important precautionary issues were health and family (71 percent each) and reserves for crises (64 percent). The importance of health is not least an effect of the corona pandemic, says Herbert Walzhofer, CEO of Sparkasse Oberösterreich. According to the Managing Director of Wiener Städtische, Manfred Bartalszky, the turnaround in interest rates means that a “turnaround” in provision products is imminent. These would now become more attractive again.
