Germany’s largest club, the General German Automobile Club (ADAC), has continued to grow. The number of members rose last year by over 190,000 to 21.4 million, as announced by the ADAC in Munich.

The reason is “above all the increased mobility and travel activity compared to 2020 and 2021”. The more expensive premium membership for travel security “was able to grow the most and is particularly in demand from young families,” the association said.

The number of premium members rose from 201,000 to 377,000. The increase in membership is also a confirmation of the expansion of offers and services. “Today, we understand help, advice and protection more comprehensively,” said ADAC board member Dieter Nirschl.

Premium members can receive telemedicine services abroad via an app. In addition to roadside assistance for motorists, ADAC has also been offering roadside assistance for cyclists nationwide since last year. That is very well received. The charging card for electric cars offered by the ADAC with the electricity supplier EnBW is used by more than 250,000 people. A good 80,000 e-car owners would have received a bonus from the greenhouse gas quota trade via the ADAC. For domestic use, the ADAC offers an emergency key service in many cities.
