A terminal in Wilhelmshaven in Lower Saxony had already gone into operation in 2022.
Germany is investing massively to replace missing gas supplies from Russia. One focus is LNG, which is delivered by ship from several regions of the world, converted back into gas and fed into the gas network: for the container ships, which bring the liquefied gas to Germany, their own infrastructure is being set up in a hurry. Another terminal in Brunsbüttel in Schleswig-Holstein is to follow shortly.
